One more Rush double-standard: TMQ vs. ESPN

I love Tuesday Morning Quarterback. Gregg Easterbrook combines an inner geek with a love of football, and adds a splash of haiku.

In 2003, TMQ was a regular feature on Page 2 of espn.com.

Then, this column in The New Republic caused a bit of a blog-storm because of some comments it included about Jewish film producers.

Roger L. Simon was not amused: Racist Garbage in the New Republic. Mr. Easterbrook, showing class, addressed his critics directly and tried to make amends. But, was fired from his ESPN gig.

Shortly thereafter, TMQ was picked up by nfl.com. The archive is here.

Subject: TMQ returns to ESPN
Dear Friends of TMQ,

Ye gods! The NFL was fun, but Tuesday Morning Quarterback is returning to ESPN.

The column re-starts on ESPN.com tomorrow, Tuesday the 25th, with my annual mocking of the mock drafts. The Houston Texans use the first overall pick to select Dick Cheney -- and switch to the shotgun formation.

Thanks for your support of Tuesday Morning Quarterback. Watch ESPN.com, and maybe ESPN TV, for more.

It's like Jiminy Cricket said:

"Like a bolt out of the blue
fate steps in and sees you through. When you wish upon astar
your dreams come true."

Best,
Gregg

The New Republic article was published 2 weeks after Rush Limbaugh resigned from NFL Sunday Countdown for his comments on Donovan McNabb.

TMQ is now back on ESPN where it belongs. Rush is still on the radio where he belongs.

Will Rush be re-hired by ESPN? Holding breath...Face blue...Passing out...
